WHO IS HALCYON?
Regarded a leading exponent of new vocal music, for twenty five years Halcyon has presented stunning performances of vocal chamber music from around the world, with a special focus on Australian works. Based in Sydney, Halcyon is a chameleonic ensemble of varying size and instrumentation, with a line up drawn together for each project by current artistic director, mezzo soprano Jenny Duck-Chong.
Originally founded by singers Alison Morgan and Jenny Duck-Chong, since 1998 Halcyon has championed and commissioned contemporary vocal chamber music, forging international relationships with composers, music centres and institutions, as well as mentoring the next generation of composers and performers through workshops, seminars, masterclasses and private teaching. Along with their self-released Waves EP series, Halcyon has produced numerous acclaimed studio recordings with Tall Poppies, Move and Wirripang and is regularly heard on local and national radio.
